Fuel Pump issues, and bad transmission (?)

I recently bought a high milage 96 F150. At frst it was a great truck, but within a month it crapped out on me
It started running rough like it was struggling for fuel. I was convinced it was the fuel filter, but was persuaded that it was the fuel pumps

I was right, but since the front tank guage did not work and I was going to have to drop the tank anyway, I bought a new pump.

New pump was installed, but now it doesn't run on that tank.
Is it possible that the fuel line is crushed under the tank. It is also possible that I did not get good crimps on the pump wiring.
Is there a way to check this before I drop the tank again

Also
I was pretty sure that the tranny was bad, but again I let the mechanics (one was the same guy that sold e the truck) convince me that it was a fuel delivery issue
Truck will not accelerate, engine races but it is almost like no one is telling the tranny.
I did a filter and fluid change, but the only difference was that it got worse.

At this point I am ready to pull the brand new tires, radio out, stick them on my 79 F100 and scrap this pig, and then stick to the older trucks I understand
