Please help if you can horn and cruise

Hello All,

I am new to this site and to ownership of a 95 F150. I know the above topics have been covered a lot and I have tried to read as many posts as possible.

I had stopped for groceries and when I closed the door, my foot slipped and I pulled on the steering wheel. I don’t know if any of this means anything but my horn went off and I had to unplug it at the horn. I then noticed that the cruise control would not work.

I checked all fuses and relays and connections on the steering wheel. I then replaced the clock spring. No change in the horn staying on. I then unplugged the clock spring and cruise/horn harness from the steering column. The horn still stays on. I figure the problem is after the harness plug.

If you have any thoughts I would sure appreciate the help.

Take care

Don

I'd say your pull on the steering wheel pinched a wire in the column.

Do you have tilt wheel? If so, did it drop down when you pulled on it?

If yes, you'll have to pull the wiring through the column and check it out to see if there is a kink or break.

It's more likely since you already replaced the clock spring and stuff.

If no, then you have more wires to check, but start w/ the wiring in the column.

Thank you. I will continue on with the wiring and connection tests.

Hello Don, welcome to the forum. I deleted the other thread you started on this subject since duplicate posts lead to confusion and wasted time. Hope you find your problem soon. Looks to me like you have a good handle on how to find it. Wish I had some advice to offer, but I know nothing about your model year truck.

Weird fix

As it turns out someone had attached an accessory wire to the horn wire. I can only guess that when my foot went up it increased the connection causing the horn to go off. Changed the feed to the fuse box and horn and cruise worked fine.

Thanks to all who responded

Don
