Yeah, mid '94 last of the IDI's. Wouldn't be a bad swap either way if you have the whole donor truck to get the fuel system from.

Couple guys have done it in the IDI section of www.oilburners.net

Yeah 95 is a PS. It'll be cool, glad you have the whole entire donor truck.

Yes our right it is a power stroke I was miss informed. what was the difference between the earlier idi's and the 95 power strokes? Would an Idi be a better swap for any reason?

No, the PS is a better motor. IDI stands for indirect injection, it has prechambers. The PS is direct injection.

Awesome thank you. So swapping the powerstroke would that be a pretty cut and dry swap? any modifications I would have to make in order to drop the motor and tranny in. What about the fuel system do I need to change my tanks and fuel lines as well?

Yes fuel lines are a must. I would get yourself some good SS braided fuel lines. As for just dropping the motor and trans in I would think that the tranny mounts and motor mounts might be an issue. For some reason Im thinking the driveshaft might need shortened?? I know over in my powerstroke forum I know of a few people that have done the same kinda swap but it wasnt easy as they said.. I will see if I can find there swap threads...

You're gonna have to do some research on some existing threads. PS is definitely the better of the two.

The front suspension is going to need substantial beefing up to handle that powertrain that weighs what, 2 times more than what's in there now? People tend to need a body lift when doing diesel swaps to clear the tranny too. There's going to be an S ton of trial and error and moving parts around trying to stuff that thing in there. It's far beyond a clean swap.

Just take the F150 badge and swap it on the F250. Swap done! Nobody will ever know the difference LOL. Powerstroke nation is the one I belong to and there is a good group of guys there that would be more than willing to help you out. People that have done this before. Like KMAC said there is going to be allot of trial and error! We wanna see pics when you do start this!!!

Cool dont worry I know im getting into a more then just a quick swap.
Im attached to this 150 body for its great condition and good body work ive done to it.

As far as the suspension goes my doner 250 has a good set of 4.10's and 3/4 leafs ill be swapping, I already have new spring brackets and new bushings. Ill be switching the front coils to springs.

Ive heard the powerstroke has been bolted up to the E4od tranny that I have in the truck now but idk if thats true. Pretty sure the tranny on the doner truck is in good condition so im not that worried about it.

Well see I havent started anything yet cuz I dont plan to take the truck off the road until im ready, but I want to start getting everything I need in order to do it right.

This will be "fun" to dig into!

I was poking around a few threads on this last night and want to say someone said they used a E4OD that had previously been hooked up to a diesel and that worked, but I could be completely wrong and that might not be possible. I don't know anything about the transmissions. Regardless, I think the difference in torque between the two motors would tear up the 5.0s trans pretty quickly.

E4OD/4R100 transmissions came with different internals between gas and diesel versions. Also, the torque converter would be different. Just use the one in the F250 if it works.
