ACT and ECT sensors

People suggested this as part of my tune up? What are they and what do they do? Do they need to be replaced? I couldn't find them on the ROCKAUTO website. Thanks

Air Charge Temperature (ACT) Sensor, Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor. They are part of the Speed Density engine management system.

MOTORCRAFT Part # DY720, F5AF-12A697-AA, $31.79 at Rock Auto.

MOTORCRAFT Part # DY1144, F5AF-12A648-AA, $9.16 at Rock Auto.

The two parts listed above, APPEAR to be the correct parts.

Are these a must for a tune up? They have never been changed.

Pull the original parts and check the condition. The ECT may have scale contamination from the coolant, and the ACT may be caked up with oil. I would be worried about the age, not the miles.
