Rear differential fluid is actually the same fluid as the transmission, since they share common portions of the vehicle where the fluid is exchanged. Hence, when the transmission fluid is changed, or flushed, every 30,000 miles, it is also changing the rear differential fluid as well.

i was reading about how to change the rear diff fluid.

this doesn't sound true does it?

thanks

It's true in most front-wheel drive cars.
Patently untrue for any and all rear wheel drive cars and trucks

If you put ATF in your axle, start headin to the junkyard for a new axle.

I run AMSOIL 75-140 changed every 50 in theory, but usually end up in deep water before that and end up changing it anyway.

Unless it's one of the rare rear drive vehicles that uses a transaxle.
