Fuel Tank Selector Valve for 1986 F-150
I recently had both gas tanks and internal tank parts on my 302 EFI replaced. Truck runs great off either tank but will die after running on the front tank for about ten minutes. The comments I find online are that the tank selector valve is bad and requires replacement. Problem is the part number on my tank selector valve is smudged and unreadable so I am unsure of the proper part number for the tank selector valve. I did find a posting from a former Ford parts manager who gave a part number E57B-9H271-BA or E67B-9H271-AA but cannot find a currently available part with either of these numbers online. Supermotors.net references a Dual-Function Reservoir F1UZ-9B263-B for 84-89 models which is available from Amazon but I find elsewhere that the F1UZ-9B263-B will not work with a 1986 F-150 302 EFI. Sure would appreciate some assistance with locating the correct part number.

The link in my last post did not work. The part number for the dual function reservoir we installed is F1UZ-9B263-B and the part came from Ford.
Sorry to say, the truck "ran out of gas" on the way to work this morning with the rear tank full and the front tank almost full. The truck had been running on the front tank since replacement of the dual function reservoir and had been about 70 miles over three days with no issues. However, it "gave out of gas" this morning about five miles after leaving home. I switched to the rear tank and the engine "caught up" and seemed ok. The truck ran for two more miles then "ran out of gas" again. I switched back to the front tank but the engine did not "catch up". I tried switching back to the rear tank but the engine still would not "catch up". I switched back to the front tank, the engine "caught up" and ran the rest of the way to work (about ten miles) without issues. It seems the possible problems are (a) clogged fuel lines {the mechanic said he checked the fuel lines when he replaced the dual function reservoir], (b) bad fuel pump [ I replaced the fuel pump in 2007, or (c) a bad selector switch on the dash. Sure would appreciate any helpful suggestions.

I am having a similar problem with my ole 1989 F150 with dual tanks and 302. Did you finally find the answer? I have replaced both tank fuel pumps, pick ups and main fuel pump. Also replaced the tank selector with one from a junk yard and still have the same problem. Mine also seems to take the fuel from the rear tank and put it into the front tank.
