Hey I am replacing the rear seal and front main seal on my transmission, and would like to know how to go about this. I have a 1988 Ford F-150, 4x4, 4 speed manual. I know the 4x4 complicates the hell out of it. I want to know if I have to drop the tranny to do it, and what all I need to do, any don't do stuff, that sort of things. It is leaking oil like a bitch, about a quart a day. I decided to stop buying oil for it and just replace the seals already. So I went out and bought new valve cover gaskets, rear seal, front seal, and a oil pan seal. I know how to do most of it, not to sure on the rear and front seals though, as I haven't really done them before by myself.
