94 5.8l Motor Swap, wont fire

I posted this in the V8 section earlier but it seems to be Mod motor talk only so I reposted it here

I picked up a 94 F-150 4x4 with 247K that the PO had put a new trans in, and on the way home from the trans shop the motor threw a rod. I got the truck for a song, Had a running FI 5.8l from an earlier year that I swapped in reusing all the FI and electronics from the 94. No remote start or security system, I am getting fuel to the rail (never unplugged the injectors or the harness) getting spark to the plugs and set the timing to 8* BTC on compression, with the rotor pointing at #1 From everything I read this is the correct setup, I have gone over everything 3 times, every plug is plugged in, the spark plug wires are right, I spun the motor 180* just to make sure I wasn't on compression. I'm stumped. I'm not even getting a sputter or pop at either setting. Am I missing something or get my info wrong, is there an computer reason it wont fire, or something else I haven't tried

Please Help!

the truck was originally a 5.8 and swapped in the same engine, only difference between the 2 is that the 94 block was a roller cam, and the swapped in one thats is hydraulic lifter but not a roller.

Inertia switch? Isn't that the one that shuts off the fuel?

Ok update! Good news! got it to fire and run! Pulled the Jumper on the Computer controlled advance and got it timed to 10* BTC and running strong. The gray jumper on the Drivers side inner fender that connects to the computer there.

The bad news...... I can't get it to start without hold 1/4 throttle or idle, with the jumper reinstalled the timing is all over the place and after a few minutes of babying the throttle it will idle high and have the timing seriously retarded it looks like I'm guessing somewhere around 50* BTC. once you throttle up the timing returns to 10* but it wont idle on its own for more then 30 seconds.

WTF? lol
