I feel my 1997 F-150 V6 4.6 is underpowered. I have a 1996 V8 5.0 explorer that's engine I feel would be a better fit in the f-150. What would be required to accomplish an engine swap between the two.

it can be done, but i don't recommend doing it. you have roughly the same power in the 4.6 as the 5.0. the 5.0 has a little more torque, and roughly 10-20 more ponies. all that labor for so little gain? find a 5.4 and do that, or find some PI (power improved heads) and you will end up with about the same amount of ponies.

Your 4.6 will dust a 5.0.

For sure, the little bit of an edge off the line of the 302 is smoked shortly after by the rev happy Triton motors.

To do it to do it, you'll need some good fab skills, a good tranny as the patterns ain't the same, and be pretty handy with wiring.
