rare or not?
Just curious, my son picked up a 82 f150 with "Big 300" I6 with a 5spd manual, not that unusual , but,...apparently it is a option, but it has twin tanks with short box and regular cab. Just hadn't seen that configuration much here in the mid west. Then again, we know it came from Alabama.
Was wondering how many were made like this?

Well, for '82 the two manual tranny options were the T-18 or the SROD. Both four speeds. The M5OD-R2 or ZF S5-42 five speeds didn't come out until '88. So someone has already done some swapping.
Check for the trans code on the door jam sticker to see what was originally bolted in.

I went and checked for myself and it only a 4 sd box....as to whether is the OD unit or the straight up 4sd presume T-18 ...IDK.
Not up to road testing yet, gotta get the gas/varnish drained out of the tanks and brakes more functional first. Oh and seats back in
after the interior was striped, dash is still in (more for rodent removal), the floor pan tunnel covers appear less than factory...so I was suspicious that it had been changed & the boy "thought he felt a 5th spot, and gates are a bit sloppy
Is there a good 5spd box that will go in behind the I6 economically ? looking for options
