Volt meter/electrical question

Hi, I've just replaced my battery and alternator, but my volt meter is just going nuts--tap, tap, tap--and the truck will only start with a jump, and then it fires right up.

Any ideas out there? I may have a short somewhere, but how can I look for it?

First, welcome to F150 Online!

Can you give a little more information on your voltmeter? Not sure what tap, tap, tap means. When the battery was replaced, were the battery posts, and cable clamps cleaned well?

And what year/model is your truck?
