I'm thinkin' it doesn't have rear drive shafts and you have to leave it in 4wd.

Yup - it says front wheel drive.

I seriously doubt that the "factory" is a Ford factory.
What really stumps me is that it would have been an easier, simpler conversion to leave it as 4WD and add the third axle as a weight-bearing non-driven axle. Somehow adding complexity in order to reduce function makes no sense to me at all
