Cheap Insurance collector plates.

My dad said that I could get collector plates for my 1984 ford f150 4.9l as long as the vehicle Is twenty years old. He said that his friend told him Insurance would also be cheaper with collector plates. But I dont see how the Insurance company would know that ya have them. Why would Insurance be cheaper for a collector car that would cost alot to fix because they dont make many parts. Maybe he was saying If ya have a collector car ya can buy cheap Insurance that lets ya drive a cap of miles. Idk do ya have collector plates, Is Insurance cheaper or higher with the plate.

There will be driving restrictions with antique/collector plates. The restrictions vary by state. You may be limited to 3000 miles a year, daylight driving only, driving to and from car shows only, stuff like that.

Only your local OMV/DMV & insurance agent can tell you the specifics.

In pa you can only drive 5000 miles a year, in nice weather, blah blah blah.
There are a lot of cars on the road that could be considered a "classic" now, I think the laws on a classic need to be tighter.
You do get emissions exempt though!

Yea there are usually a fair amount of restrictions on these plates I know when I was gonna get some for my one vehicle it had to be stock and driven under 4000 kms a year and some other crap... wasn't worth it.

15 years for PA. Gonna get my '97 F-150 a set next, everything else older in the fleet already does. Doesn't lower my rate for insurance, just takes away the yearly registration fee.
