Need 96' tailgate trimpanal retaining clips.....

Anybody know where to get the brushed aluminum trim panal plastic retaining clips. Ford has discontinued them, LMC doesn't have them and most junk yards want to sell the whole tailgate. My tailgate is in good shape, just need the clips.........

AFAIK, they're not available anywhere. And even if the JY let you pull a trim panel off a tailgate, those clips don't come out of the trim panel easily. And most of them are already broken, or they'll break when you try to remove them. Your best move is to try to fabricate them yourself. Bronco clips are different, but you should be able to either modify them, or make something similar:

Steve,
Yeah, evn my wife came up with that answer.....I had the three ends that broke off so it looks like a trip to Home Depot for some supplies this long weekend! I will take some "before and afters" if I can make them work!

Good to know, thanks. I went with the "Home Depot" repair method first. Some hardware cloth (Metal Screen) and some JB Weld. Cut a small screen section just smaller than the width of the clip, punched a whole for the plastic post and than used a ton of JB on it! I was lucky that I still had the broken-off ends. The clips look and feel pretty strong. The test will be once they are back on the tailgate holding the trim panel!!!! Thanks again for the link, TC

Was told this on another site talking about the same subject
"They're still available at the dealer also,
The outer ones are E7TZ-9942596-B, the one in the center is E7TZ-9942596-A. Retail at $11 each for either number."

Did you look at the diagram in my first post? The 3 plastic ones are identical.

Yes I did. If you put all three clips side by side, I can't see any difference between them. Two of mine had a "1" stamped on them and the other had a "3". I put the number "3" in the center of the panel but really don't see how they are not the same. Anyway, installed the fixed clips last night and put the trim panel back on the tailgate. I will see how it does with a little road time.......thanks for the info!

I was actually asking russo2, but your response confirms mine. But I'm really curious what NPD thinks the difference is...
