what are good mods for 1994 f-150 5.8

what are some tricks if any, you guys done to make the 5.8 run stronger, can you take the smog crap & pump off ? I am in Michigan, I have taken off the second convertor on my old 96 5.8 bronco, sense it dont have a sensor, than run duals, but what about intakes ,under drive pullys, headers, or programers etc. Thanks Mike...

i know jersey u will fail ofcorse b4 it was just emmissions they they checked jersey sucked to pass inspection.

ive seen guys get the 351 lower upper intake and throttle body for the mustang and put them in n yes i know 351 never came in mustangs but the ones that swap them in. or find a 95 or 96 lightning and get the intake off it and gt-40 heads and any headers with equal length runners and if u are ganna do all that invest in some high flow cats true duals and ur choise of muffler they sell chips on jegs and summit but they are around $250 but are worth it if u want to spend the money. also u can change ur gearing u can put a cam in it

skys the limit it how much time and money u want to spend on it

also throttle body spacers and cold air intakes. if u keep the stock dual hose intake i make a redneck cold air i take the stock box out take the 2 hoses and get some pvc that takes 2 into 1 and put a k&n cone filter

Throttle body spacers do nothing.
Cold air intake does nothing. Fact.
Get yourself the intake from a 4.9 or 7.5. That's be an inline six or a 460.
The 95 and 96 would be the best, but either way those two have the better intake design.
The 4.9 has a ram type intake from the side of the grille, the 460 has it right above the grille.
While you are doing that you could also wrap it up in some heat reflective tape if you are really ambitious
Other than that, like losthillbilly said, sky is the limit. GT40 stuff is good, but expensive.
Headers are always fun. dual exhaust is too.
It will be hard to do a whole lot, like a cam, without a mass air flow swap. The speed density system doesn't take too well to internal motor mods.
EGR and AIR deletes aren't really worth it, and to keep the motor running correctly after the deletes is something else.

The best thing to make any engine run strong is to follow the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual, and to use high-quality direct-replacement parts. Deleting parts doesn't help anything - it hurts performance, longevity, & maintainability. Swapping the wrong parts on is the same - asking for trouble. If you want a more-powerful engine, swap a COMPLETE newer engine in, and that means COMPLETE: PCM, wiring, exhaust, emissions, everything.

Hahahahaha I am about 99.9% sure he was joking.
Probably a follow up to the intake and throttle body spacer comment..

One cheap mod you can do is adjust the timing up to 15*. But if you do that you have to run premium fuel in it or it could go *BOOM* If your going to change the intake, then yes the GT-40 is the way to go. There are other brands out there but cant go wrong with the GT-40. As far as a programer unless its mass air there arnt many options. There's the Tweecer or Quarter Horse. Most go with the Tweecer, but from what I have heard about it, it is pretty complicated till you get used to it .I personally wouldn't buy a chip for it, cant really do much with it except remove the speed limiter. And the Lightnings were made from 93-95 (Gen 1). And dont forget about a "tune up" if you havent done that yet, fuel filter, spark plugs, etc..
