89 F150 overheating
Found the truck on a farm, has 78K original miles, just used for haying and farm stuff. Problems have been working themselves out but seems to overheat, misfire, stall. Won't start, acts like a dead battery. Have changed the radiator, thermostat is working and have circulation through the waterpump.... What am I missing? Oh, the positive battery cable heats up to the point it burns to the touch. Once the truck cools it starts right up and runs good. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Oh yeah, has a straight 6.

"Seems"??? In what way, exactly? Have you measured the actual engine temperature with something like this?
How exactly?
Read these captions:
Take a few minutes to fill in your profile & create a signature so your truck's details appear with every post, and you don't have to remember to type them every time. You can omit "19__ Ford F150" since those are assumed: 2-digit year, engine, trim level, transmission, 2/4WD, gears, tires, miles, maintenance, mods, damage, repairs... If you don't know the trans, read this caption:
