Question Newbie Fuel Question

Hi, New to the forum. Usually on the motorcycle lists.
My son has a 93 4wd F150 5.0EFI. Started running erratic. Would still run but not accelerate when attempting to accelerate. Finally stalled and would not restart. Spark is good. Put 5 gallons of fuel in to make sure it was not empty. (Gauge is erratic). We can hear the fuel pump run. Still not starting.
Disconnected fuel supply line at the pressuer regulator. No fuel coming out.
Jumped the pump to make it run continuos, as described in Haynes Manual. Sounds fine but still no fuel.
So, what do you guys think? Bad fuel pump, plugged filter or something I am overlooking completely?

Thanks a lot!
Sorry for the long rambling first post:o

Change the filter; it's normal maintenance and it's cheap. If you still have the original filter in place 17 years after manufacture, you're long, long past due.
If the pump is running and you're not getting fuel, there's a very high probability that it's the filter. The other possibilities are more expensive

Yes change the fuel filter. They're due approx. every 15,000 miles or so. About every 4th oil change, and most of the time people don't get them changed.

That's not possible. The fuel lines don't connect to the FPR. They connect to the fuel rail. Only a vacuum line connects to the FPR.

.

What exactly did you disconnect, and where? What color was it? What tool did you use?

That link must be to your editable album because it's asking for a signin. Log out, then find your photo, and post the public link.

But SuperMotors is much easier to use, and also totally free.

Thanks for the Super Motors lead!!!
As it turns out, I had the return line off, when I posted before.
After removing the fuel filter it became obvious.

Well to make a long story short, my son, who had never used the rear tank, must have accidentally bumped the selector switch while driving. When we went to switch tanks during the trouble shooting process, we discovered this!
