94 Ranger M5od transmission leak

Does anyone know the steps to replace the 3 plugs on the shift rails on a m5od trans? I realize to do it you either have to take the seat out and pull the carpet up and take a pan out to get to the transmission or drop the the trans but I would like to know the steps to do it without dropping the transmission. also when I put the new ones in should I use RTV sealer to help prevent it from happening again.

You want to be asking that question here:

Not on a F150 board.

On the larger version of the tranny used in the f150s some people have reported success with driving freeze plugs into the holes to replace the rubber plugs. No idea if this will work on the smaller tranny.

All you have to do is place a jack under the trans and remove the crossmember and lower it down to gain access. I have used rtv on the old plugs and reinstalled them when I couldn't get new ones. I wouldn't recommend using it on new plugs, though. Or you can replace them with small freeze plugs. You'll have to measure the holes first.
