adjusting steering box?

Hey guys, i was wondering if its possible to adjust a steering box on my 94 f150, my steering is not very responsive and likes to wander, any tips would be great or even if i should attempt it. Its just not as tight as it use to be.

Don't just assume the problem with your loose steering is in the steering box. In my experience the problem will lie somewhere else. If you don't know how to check the steering components, it may be dollar wise to have a compotent shop do it.

it is possible but not recomended. once the over center resistance of your steering box is gone it should be replaced. Adjusting the steering box tightens it up though the entire travel of the box and can lead to it being to tight while turning and your steering wheel may not return to center by itself after turning like it should.

i have a 95 and mine does the same thing, if you follow the steerin column all the way under the hood there is a box w/ a nut on top and a screw in the middle of the nut, you gotta break that nut loose and tighten the screw, but be VERY careful, i would only do 1/4 at a time, once again make sure you dont do more than that, i over tightened mine, steering stuck, was damn near impossible to move the wheel while driving and took forever to loosen the screw back up so just make sure youre EXTREMELY carefull when doing this
