1989 F-150, 2wd, 3 speed on the colum w/overdrive 4.9L 6 cylinder
I have a 1989 Ford F-150 4.9L 6 cylinder, 2wd, automatic transmission w/overdrive. I am thinking about pulling my fishing boat which weighs between 1500-2000 pounds, depending upon how it is loaded. Not planning any real long trips, maybe 200-300 miles each way at the longest.
I know not to pull the boat in overdrive, but other than that, do you see any real problems. Truck has about 33,000 miles on it and is in great shape.
Also thinking about replacing bench seat with two buckets. Has anyone done and this, and what are the problems? Any ideas for a "fake center console" for drink holders, a rechargable flashlight and a small 12 V cooler?
Thanks for your responses.

Your truck won't even feel it... I prolly carry 2k of junk/tools/spares daily.
Only lock out O/D if it is hunting between 3rd and 4th constantly no matter the load up to 10k+
Pretty darn easy in these trucks to put in whatever you want. Had Honda buckets in an '87 that I had used that bench seat in a '79. Just finished puttin' two '94 Bronco buckets in an '85 blazer. If a hole don't quite line up, a drill and large fender washer with grade 8 hardware is all ya need.
