Hitch Questions

I'm looking to get a 1992 F150 Flareside excab I've always liked them and have a chance to pick one up. Now I'm going to be going cross country in this at some point and need a add a hitch for a small uhaul trail. I'm not able to find out if the hitch is the same for the flareside and the styleside or is the frame a different width? Any help would be appriechiated.

The fit issues on the 1992 F150 is not Step side/ Flare side, but what bumper is installed.

Ford liked to install some deep drop bumpers on some of these trucks, usually the 4x4 ones.
The deep drop bumpers had deep drop reciever hitches to get below the bumper. With a standard reciever it would be blocked by the bumper.
If there is no bumper installed than any 1992 F150 hitch will work

Frame is the same width and if it's the standard not tube bumper, you are good to go. I've never seen the drop bumpers stock on the half tons.

Since rear bumpers were dealer option installed items, most 4x4's locally had them with the Dealers Logo on them. It might be different in your neck of the woods.

If you look up hitch part numbers they were common enough that most manufacturer's made them for standard and drop bumpers as well.
