This thread is about a fuel leak - your post is about slow cranking. Start a new thread with a descriptive subject line.

I assume your reply is to the orginal poster since hebert's problem can't possibly have anything to do with a fuel pump. But he posted that question 10 years ago & hasn't come back since, so he'll never read your reply.

I have a 1992 Ford f150 with dual tanks. The first tank was full but the fuel gauge read empty. I drove the first tank till it was empty then filled it and same for the second tank. Once i filled the first, the gauge ready full. I started driving with the second tank home. When i got home, i switched to the first tank, and thats when it read empty again. I would open the first tank and gas would start coming out. Whats going on and how do i fix this problem?

The leak comes right out of the gas cap. Seems as if pressure builds up within the first tanks and gushes out when opening it slower, while the second tank is completely fine.

Fuel Leak
Hi,
I Have the problem with the fuel leak on my 92. My back tank leaked from the time I bought it, so I have not used it since ive owned the truck. Hear recently the back tank has started leaking. Would it be possible to cap the line to the back tank since I dont use it anyway? If so where would be the best place in the line?

Had a problem yesterday that I would like to pass on to everybody. On my pickup with dual tanks the rear tank suddenly started pumping fuel to the front tank (which was full) causing it to overflow.
My mechanic found that it was a Ford recall item but, I can't remember getting the notice. (I am the orginal owner)
Mine is a '92 model so the problem isn't going to 'just happen' at a specific time or mileage (155,400 for me).
If you have a dual tank F150 I would suggest that you call or drop by your dealer to find out if you need the repair kit.
