So i was changing the oil today and above the drivers side valve cover it looks like a capacitor of some sort is broken. What does it control and is this something i can get without going to a junkyard? Its a 94 f150 5.8 E40D 4x4

Radio noise capacitor.
Any auto parts store should have one.

Or you can just ignore it if you don't have any ignition noise in your radio. Primarily, it would be noticed on AM band.

Radio signal disruption is just the most "in your face"effect. It can affect any function w/ electronic control circuits involved. Never seen its removal listed as a performance mod. Emediate effects and their combined total resultant of long term operation is debatable. Not if positive or negative, just degree of negativity. For 15 mins. and $2. it can continue to be a mystery to you. Make sure mount grounds.

Radio signal seems fine. I doubt it would make my power lumbar support/ciggarette lighter stop working would it? Those stopped working earlier this year. But the secondary power point is fine. Fuses are fine. I haven't worried to much more about it to dig in deep.
