Post Spark Plugs

Anyone have any tips for removing a stuck spark plug. It seems to be welded in. I don't want to try too hard and break it off. I have tried soaking it with WD-40 for days, but it still won't budge. It still fires and runs well even though the plug is extremely old. I have been thinking about just taking it to a shop. I hate to do that, but I am stuck. Any idea's?

WELDED IN? Thats gonna be a serious problem. You may end up taking the entire head off. You might want to post this on the engines forum. Good luck to ya.

4xFord, probably a combination of heat and corrosion holding plug in. My recomendation is to soak plug in acetone to remove any silicone the WD-40 left behind. Then soak plug in Marvel Mystery Oil. The stuff works wonders.
If the MMO fails something else to try is to warm engine up to normal temp. Then with a plug socket over the bad plug, spray it down with a refrigerant. The temp difference between the hot head and a cool plug might free it up. Past that..... I guess pull the head.

A shop will be able to heat it with a torch and remove it with an impact. I doubt you'll have to to anything as drastic as removing the head. Hit it with some penetrating oil and get a longer handled ratchet or breakover.

Try the PB Blaster. Let it soak a while though. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I ended up just using a breaker bar, and it came out. I didn't do that first because I was worried about breaking it. Guess there was nothing to worry about.

Glad to hear you got it out. How did it look? You said it had been in there a while.
