Front drive shaft

hey i was wondering if i remove my front drive shaft can i still drive around like that? because i need to replace the front u-joint but i don't have time and the squeaking is getting annoying

Why are you hearing the front driveshaft u-joints when you are just driving around?

when the u-joints go bad and dry up then you can hear a metal to metal kind of sound from in side the joints. yeah its ok to take it out. only thing that it does is allow your 4wd to work.

It shouldnt be spinning when the truck is in 2wd...

didnt think of that. must be rear ujoints or ball joints or tie rod joints or springs possibly.

it could be his radius arms clicking also. I know the ones I've had bad sounded like u-joint clicking...unless I hit a big bump and then it was a loud pop

he should mark the front driveshaft and drive forward about 50 feet. that's a good go/no go test.
