I don't average that much in a newer, aerodynamically slipperier truck with fewer miles, and about 80% of my daily commute is all highway miles.

best my 84 with a 302 ever did was around 16, but due to a mishap with the flywheel during engine swap that has now knocked out the rear main seal and it leaks like a sieve. will be fixing that in a few months

14.5 in town and 18-20 highway with cruise control engaged @ 70.
Lots of mods to get there!

My '93 351 totally stock does about 15 on the highway if I keep the speed to about 70. Up to 75, and it drops down to like 14.

Around town, I get 10 pretty consistently, with conservative driving.

My old inline6/5spd/2wd did slightly better, did like 17 on the highway and 15 around town.

I get about 17mpg in town (Los Angeles). I don't know the last time I checked the highway mileage.

I drive very carefully. I check the tires often. I've converted to MAF. I've added an MSD 6A box. I've replaced every sensor, actuator and all the fuel injectors. Also I've done a tune up.

My truck is a long bed with a 302.

....and GM brags about their brand new trucks getting 20 highway. Big deal when trucks 15+ years old can do similar.

Hahha, as Chevy can even brag about any of there trucks, there giant cars. Sure they ride smooth but you can't do anything with them to me they are useless in my opinion Chevrolet IFS is the worst out there for structural integrity at least.

I have a well-maintained (regular tune-ups) 1994 5.0L regular cab styleside and get a consistent 15.9 MPG. According to Ford, I think this is about average.

I get about 12 city and 14-15 highway. Depending on what speed i have cruise set on. The speed limit were i live (michigan) is 70mph on the highway, But i usually do 10mph over the posted speed limit. So if i have it set on 70 i can get about 15mpg maybe 16 if its not windy. If im at 80mph on cruise i get about 14

'95 5.0, AT, and 3.08 rear with 183,000 on it gets 20 hwy and 14ish town.
Probaby would get 30mpg if I replaced the shocks and turned some of that up/down into straight ahead!

I'm driving a '95 F150 XLT 3.55 gears 4 speed auto with over drive and I get about 20 mpg. Most back roads are 55mph in my neighborhood, but I do hit the 25 and 35mph areas too. That's 20mpg if I keep my foot out of it. If I get in it, it'll drink the gas. Btw I have close to 250,000 miles on it and it runs great. I tuned it up when I bought it and recently I put a a/c bypass pulley on because my compressor was going out.

I realize it is an old post, but I figured I'd throw my two cents in anyway. I thought some one else may have similar question and stumble across this post.
