looking for a cheap trans

been all over the net and can't find anything with a warranty for less than 7 hundred and change plus a core charge that puts it over 9 hundred, anyone know a place to find a reasonable replacement tranny?? 88 aod 4wd (transfercase on mine is fine). any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, if your guy in newman has something that would be great, this is one I'm willing to wait on. I got my little truck to drive while this one is down.

Is bill smith in Champaign? I thought it was..

Have you checked that one place in by Danville? Don't know the name but they always have their paying rate for aluminum cans on a sign outside.

yeah bill smiths is here in champaign and they said they could "order" me a "used" one. Problem with that was they couldn't tell me what it came out of or how many miles were on it. For $860 from them with no info on the used one I'd rather spend the 970 with core on ebay, at least I would have had some sort of guarantee. I've heard about the place in danville, didn't have the name so I couldn't call, but I also heard it's a pull it yourself yard, not alot of a problem, but usually in those places you don't know if it's a good part either.
