Question 90 F150 acts like it is stuck in gear... E4OD

The linkage works, moves freely, and everything is normal to the tranny.

The truck only starts in P or N, as it should.
The engine RPM changes and fluctuates as you go through the gears, as you would expect.

HOWEVER:
The truck is always in forward gear.
When you start the engine, it lurches forward and tries to drive away when engine starts.
It will drive forward in any gear selector position.
Even in R, it will drive forward.
When going from N to D, it will try to/or actually stall the engine, even though it never truely leaves forward gear.

This all happenend suddenly.
Worked right when I left, drove it 2 miles to my destination, and I noticed the symptoms when I was parking.

Sounds like a part of the linkage is broken INSIDE the tranny. Could you actually drive the truck a distance if you only went forward? If no, the linkage to the park gear is broken. If yes, the linkage to the valve body is broken. A lttle bit of speculation, but that's my best guess.
