Converting OBDI to OBDII ?
#2
I suppose anything's possible, but it would be a lot more work than it's worth. You'd have to add a whole crapload of sensors, most of which you would have to custom fit, and then somehow get a profile for your motor/tranny set into the OBDII computer.
It would probably be cheaper to go buy a '96 truck than to try and retro-fit a computer. OBDII computers are complex and finicky about tunes.
Unless you're looking for a monstrous challenge and a way to spend big $$$ on an old trucks for little/no benefit, I wouldn't bother.
There are tuner chips for EECIV computers, but they just monkey with the timing a bit to require premium gas. You can adjust the timing yourself in a few minutes, and get a decent boost in performance with a new coil, cap, wires and fresh plugs, and a slight advance in timing. Costs less than a tuner, and you can adjust it yourself.
