Leaking Oil Bad...(4.9 L)

Hey there,
I have a 94 f-150 supercab with the 4.9 litre.
Recently I noticed it was going through some oil...but since it's winter here in In the Great White North, I thought that It would have to wait till spring till I could get at it. But this morning I found the leak since I found a pool of oil under it after running for only 10 minutes...I am assuming that it is the head gasket but not 100% sure. The leak is coming from engine high up just inside of power steering fluid reservoir. It looks to be coming out just under 1st spark plug(one closest to front of engine). Appears to be where main block meets the upper part(head?)
Oh, of course it only leaks when running

If anyone has experience with this sort of leak....I would appreciate any info you could give me
Much appreciated
Dave

I don't have a clue where things are on a 4.9, but where is the leak in relation to the oil pressure sender?

It's likely the pushrod cover gasket, located on the passenger side just below the head. Cheap and fairly easy.

I replaced mine awhile back...it too only leaked when the truck was running, and it leaked A LOT!!!!

Or the valve cove gasket. Also cheap and easily replacable, though not so easy as the pushrod cover.

Clean it up with Simple Green or the like and see where the leak is really comiing from.

Thanks for the replies guys....
It is not the valve cover gasket.....I've seen enough leaky ones to know if it were that.
I have just been made aware of the pushrod cover....which I think is likely the culprit....It leaks alot!!!! It literally runs down the side of the engine. and then drips to driveway at just under 2 drops per second(that's alot).
It also only leaks near the front top of the pushrod cover.
Given the amount of oil that is leaking...is it more likely to be the pushrod cover gasket than the head gasket?.....again, it only leaks in that one spot....back of same side is dry and other side of engine is as clean as a whistle.
Keep it coming
Dave

To update....
I pulled off a bunch of stuff to get the cover off only to find all the bolts loose(that would explain alot) but since I had gone that far....I figured what the hell....gasket was done anyway.....

Question.
Where do the grommets go....Can't see any old ones..
figured 6 grommets...6 bolts....thought it was a no brainer
but no grommets to be seen

Any advice would be great
Thanks,
Dave

Thanks to everyone for the advice and help.
The pushrod cover was the problem. It has been changed and all is well
Merry Christmas to all!!!!
