remember my ticking noise?
Took it to about 5 places lol... and none of them could pin point where it was coming from but all think its an exhaust leak.. 1 said it was most likely the exhaust mainfold engine to head gasket. (would have to put on lift to make sure) ... so how much in tulsa OK.. would I be lookin to spend about? I don't want to get ripped off. Give me a ball park please.. Don't want to spend 400 on a 250$ job. Thanks.

A cracked exhaust manifold will do what you describe. Especially where the noise subsides after the motor warms.
Not familiar with the I6 setup, but the 5.0L V8 do not have a gasket between the manifold and head. Not to say that it couldn't be a leak, but in this case it would relate to a warpage or improper tightening problem.
Try www.rockauto.com or www.lmctruck.com for a parts price idea. Keep in mind that the shop needs to make a profit on whatever parts they sell. They ain't your best friend coming over to help out for a few beers.
And to jditta's response - hey, one of the things that make a Ford truck great is because they run so long to get so old! :-)
