Had to try it and it worked fine

Everyone told me that I needed at least a 4" lift to run 35"s on my 1992 XLT.

With just a 2 1/2" leveling kit I tried a set of BFG LTA 35 x 12.50's I had laying around. I've been driving it all weekend and it drives fine.

It has a minimum 3" clearance on the sides and 6" above the tires. No rubbing on turns or bottoming out with the quad shocks.

This is just temporary and basically just to see if it could be done. I have an 8" complete lift (no blocks or add a leaf....real springs) going on in a couple weeks and a set of 40"s.

Thumbs up

Truck looks great. What did your kit come with aand where did you get it? Did you have to add axle pivot drop brackets to keep the tires from bowing?

Thanks guys,

I just added 2.75 degree camber shims and it aligned up fine. The kit came from 4WheelParts and just came with coil spring shims. It was less than $200 total for the lift and camber shims.

I'm putting a 3" body lift on it this weekend to get ready for the 8" suspension lift in a few weeks......... then the TSL Bogger, 39.5x18-15LT's will go on Or I may just leave this with the 3" body lift and buy another truck to put the big kit on............... I like the pre-97 trucks a lot more than the little new body type beer can framed trucks.

I have allready replaced the ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, brakes, etc... and added a few extras (MagnaFlow True Dual exhaust w/ cats removed, new leaf springs, 6 Pro Comp shocks, new reese hitch, whole Infinity refference sound system w/Sirius, 200 amp Ohio Generator alt, and have a lightbar w/ 5 more KC Day Lighters for the roof)

Looks great! Question for you, though: What brush guard do you have on there? And please, post pictures when you're done with the new lift.

Thanks.

The Pushbar and brush guard are made by Westin and the best price I found was @ Advanced Auto Parts.

I have the 3" body lift on the cab now and will finish the bed Saturday (today). It looks good so far (to me) and I'll try to post a few pics later this weekend.

Thanks

Here it is with the 3" body lift. I still need to install all of the gap guards.

I did the lift by myself and it took about 17 hrs because of the age of the nuts & bolts they were a biatch

Man, that is one NICE looking truck right now. In fact, you're having me check my bank account to see if I can do the same things to mine!

Have you decided about the 8" lift yet?

Thanks again.......

I've got the 8" lift now, but I believe I'm going to leave this truck at this height to pull my bass boats with. I'll find another truck to go big with real soon I'm sure.

In the meantime I have a billet grill & alteeza taillights (black carbon) going on when I have time. Then the light bar goes on and I'll prob order some nerf bars. Then this one is done (for now )

Another few hours and the billet grill, and 3 of the 5 lights are on the bar. I prob won't have time to mess with it again until Sunday.

(The headlights are not yellowed....that's sun peeking through the trees in my back yard.)

i'd go for this look if I were you.. minus the back bumper slanting. this is prob the most hot truck i've ever seen as far as pre 97 f150...

this is 9" lift with 37.5 super swampers. 6" suspension 3" body.

I have a set of 38.5 x 15 Boggers that are brand new in my shed and a SJ 8" lift which would total this one to 13" lift. But I think I'll leave this one alone.

My CJ7 project has 44" Boggers on it and soon will have 54"s.

I build a lot of project vehicles.......... I guess that's the perks of being retired @ 47

Note: FHP gave me a $93 ticket in my Jeep for headlight blackouts allready..never again
