RRRRRR"s are hanging

i just purchased a 96 5.0 5speed 2wd (oesn't have a tach) but i can defiantley notice the rpms hanging in betwen shifts....where do i start looking the IAc or tps, i can hear it hang when i shift and makes it a little tough to shift smooth??anyone have any idea's or had this prob before....all help appreciated , just wanna figure this out this truck drives great w/ lots of power.. 1st gear practically smoked if it didn't wheelhop thanks

Look at the throttle linkage first?

yeah i did and i lubed it also,the TB wasn't dirty at all either? foorgot to edit that in

Engine speed has nothing to do with shifting effort, as long as the clutch is releasing. I'd take a good look at that - we all know how reliable those concentric slaves are.

For the revving, I'd check for vacuum leaks. Then I'd test the TPS, ECT, ACT, HEGO, & ABS sensor/circuit.

Mine did that and luckily I just lubbed up the linkage
