Rear Drum Cylinder

Stupid question: Both pistons should move, pushing both brake shoes into the drum, correct? Only one appears to be moving on one of my rear drum assemblies.

Thanks guys.

yea both should move. you need to repair or replace the cylinder. you should do both sides and completely bleed the systome front and rear. make sure you replace all of the old fluid with new dot 3.

usually when one sticks like that it is becalus you have gotten some water or condensation in there.

Yeah, got two new cylinders, a spring/fastener kit for both sides, and four new brake shoes. Will bleed them. Is it necessary to bleed the front after this? Did so last summer, may do the front brakes again if doing the rears doesn't help, so I kind of wanted to wait. If it's important though, I'm up for the extra work.

Thanks Bruce.
