egr problem, 89 F-150 302

Just replaced the EGR and the sensor on top of it, narrowed my rough idle down to this point as I can pull the vaccuum line off of the EGR and plug it and it runs fine....
Seems like even with the new EGR and sensor on it, it isnt functioning properly. Where does the sensor get its power from or what signals it to stop the vaccum and apply the vaccuum as needed to the EGR?

Thanks

Ok, think I got it figured out.
replaced the sensor that actuates the vaccuum to the EGR Valve, cleaned the PVC valve even though it seems to be working and all seems good so far.
Just to folow this up so someone else might need the info one day.

It's called the "EGR Valve Regulator" (EVR), and it's a solenoid valve - not a sensor. The Haynes manual explains how to test it (& anything else) without just throwing part$ at the problem.
