UGH...check engine light...

NOW i have another problem...the check engine light is now on

i tried doing the pull the battery for 15 minutes thing...it came back on...

i can drive in it for about 5 miles without it on each time i start it, but after that it comes right back on...I know the sure fire way to get rid of it would be to get an OBD1 computer thing...but once again, im just a poor high schooler

Ive heard of these things that u can touch in a certain spot and the light blinks on it, u count the blinks and look it up in the code book thing...has anybody heard of such a thing like that?

its a 1993 ford f150 ext. cab...351

You could do that with the old GM's OBD I systems, Fords EEK 4 system you can not do that with.

** Does your high school have a auto shop? Get the teacher to pull the codes and find out what it is.

You can jump the scanner plug with a paper clip and the light will blink the codes to you. It worked on my old 90 Cougar.

Click the image to open in full size.

This pic is of the plug on the Cat, but its the same idea on all of them

Incorrect there buddy. Very easy to pull the codes yourself and count the blinks. www.fordfuelinjection.com has it all stepped out how to do it.

Just bend a paper clip and insert one end into each of the slots like in the pic, count the blinks and you have the error codes.
