Can you put a dual shock front axle (4x4) in a F-150 that has the single shock setup? My 1990 single shock axle has a lot of miles and I can get a lower mileage one cheap, out of a 1992. If a lot of modification is needed it probably wouldn't be worth it.
Thanks for any help,
Shannon
The dual shock option came from either the towing package or snowplow prep package. My 88 has the duals, and my 92 has the singles up front. Can't tell a lick of difference other then in the wallet having to buy two more shocks.

Interesting! I thought the dual shock came standard on the 4x4's. So on a related tangent, did the towing package have an aux. tranny cooler? I have the Ford wiring setup for a trailer and the dual shocks, but of a frame hitch or a trans cooler there is no trace.

I see more F150s/Broncos without 4shocks up front than with. The autos should have an aux cooler, but not always the case. By the way, what tranny do you have? How the heck did you get an AOD in 92?
mine is a 96'
it has the dual shocks up front, tow package (hitch and wiring) sway bars and aux trans cooler.
i believe
tow package was hitch and cooler.
handling package was sway bars and dual shocks.
off road package was trans and transfer case skid plates

It's an E4OD, but I classify all automatics with overdrive as AOD (GM 700R4, 4L80E, Ford E40OD, AOD, 4R70, MoPar A604, A518/618 etc.). It shifts strong now, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed hoping it'll last a while, I'm probably just going to total the truck when the trans craps out.
Did that handling package come with sway bars front and rear, or only front? Was it even available in '92? I've got a sway bar in front but not in the back.
