A/C Complete System Replace?

How much did it run you and how long did it take you? What brand?

Thanks,
John

Thumbs up

Here's some prices from a few years ago that I recall...

Evap core - $110
Low Pressure line - $40
High Pressure line - $40
Liquid Line - $25
Oriface Tube - $2
O'Rings - $5
Dryer/Accumulator - $40

Flush - $35
Evac system and charge - $140

I assumed my compressor was okay (couldn't flip it on as there was nothing in the system) and the clutch is going bad (sounds gross) and the internal PLASTIC check valve is making quite the noise. Now I'm going to replace it with a NEW unit from Ford. Reman/Rebuilt stuff is typically crap. Prices are $150-270 depending on the model of compressor you need. I have some queer FS6 model that's spendy, many trucks have the FS10 which is far, far more common.

Since I'm going to open the system again, I shall replace any O'Rings that I see, the Dryer/Accumulator, Oriface Tube, flush the old oil out, and get it back to R12. Runs at a lower high side pressure, cools better, etc. Besides that, I can purchase as much as I want due to my EPA License I have now.

I did my own labor on R&R'ing parts, just not the flush, evac, or charge. Took me the better part of the day to do it all.
