Question Why Won't Truck Won't Turn Off?

You can start the truck up fine and it drives great, but when you get somewhere and need to turn the truck off the key turns all the way back like it should to shut the engine off but it won't turn off. You have to pop the clutch to stall the engine then you have to pop the hood and gett out and disconnect and re connect the battery. Otherwise all the lights and everything stays on. How can I fix this i was wondering if it wouldn't just be easier to hook the ignition up to a toggle switch and avoid keys all together, but I don't know if this is a problem in the ignition cylinder or the ignition harness or somewhere eles. Any and all help would be greatly aprreciated by this helpless country girl :o
the Truck is a 1995 Ford f150
