Exclamation My new Ford

Hey guys I just got my ford last week, I have been drivining it for quite a while now and i was wondering. What should I do to this ford truck to "Pimp It out" I know im going to get a paint job but what else should i do. It runs great but its REALLY shaky when put it in different gears. Third gear is gotten hard to go into.

Look at this picture
https://www.f150online.com/galleries...430-121491.jpg
Look at the Black Can looking thing to the top left with a Black Top with yellow writing on it. For somereason my truck doesnt have a cap on it and theres black stuff all over the hood and the can. What should i do and what is it?

Check out pictures of my truck here

Howdy and welcome to the site. Nice truck!

I think you are talking about the oil filler. If you are missing your cap, any auto parts store should have it. Take a picture of your engine so we can see what you have.

How many miles? You could prolly use a change on the tranny fluid. I just the Mercon ATF, but others like more expensive stuff.

Cool, I bet with a tranny fluid change that Mazda M5OD will be shiftin tight and right.

What engine do you have? The 300I6 is a good torque monster, and the 302V8 is well, one of the best darn motors I think ford made. (I love mine)

I've owned all three the 300 I6 302 HO and the 351W in the 92-96 fords and the 302 is by far the best of the three in my book for what i use em for it has a great deal of power and not to mention the gas mileage (im gettin nearly 25mpg on the highway i got this truck cause my dad bought a S10 4x4 thinking he would save money on gas and now he's realized the ford 4x4 ext cab 4x4 get as good if not better mileage than the S10 but different people have different needs which calls for different engines but for me the 302 is a great motor not to mention the potential and things you can do with em

But bottom line if its stamped ford you cant go wrong

Well this could be true for an auto tranny, kinda. He has a stick, and it is just there for lube, so change it out. The thought on an auto is if fresh fluid is put in a old tranny, all the crap will be broken from where it has been stuck, and ruin the tranny. But the other side of that is the tranny isn't gonna be around much longer if there is that much junk in it anyway.

Please share how you are getting that milage from a heavy 4x4 truck. Do you have any of the raw numbers that you used to get that figure? I am a freak when it comes to keeping fuel milage for each fillup and the conditions each tank was. Never saw anyone get that high of a number except for a high gear stripped down 300six with a tail wind. Please explain...

What do you mean? You don't have power at all? It's not going to pin you back in your seat, but it should increase speed. Try dropping to fourth.

Your a little confused I think. The manual tranny in F150s is the Mazda M5OD. Real nice tranny in my opinion. The two engine choices available with the stick are the 300 (4.9L) inline six, or the 302 (5.0L) V8. A 351 (5.8L) was available in an F150, but only with the E4OD auto.

Gas milage for a 4x4 302 shouldn't be higher than 18, and no lower than 13.

Well i got this truck from my dad and its totally stock with the P235 75R15's on it 355's in the rear with an auto tranny with OD and factory Replacement muffler. My 92 i had had the same setup and it was equally good on gas then when my 92 was totaled i replaced it with a 94 with a 351 and coudlnt afford to drive it it got about 8mpg on the highway... So i realized after about a week either get a different job or sell it so i sold it and waited him out on buyin a new one lol

Good luck

And i tell ya something else i see ford owners not lookin at on a 92-96 ford when u hit the red your not outta gas run one tank out of gas and you'll see what im sayin even when gas was around a dollar a gallon it would take 5 dollars to even get my 92 off the red the only way to say forsure what your gasmileage is is to run one totally outta gas reset your trip odomoter and fill up again drive it dry and figure the miles you went vs the ammount of gas you put in (which ive did) and ive never came up with under 22mpg always closer to 25 but ill call it 24 but this is drivin mostly on cruise on the interstate and when not in cruise not drivin like i was at daytona

what i do is fill the tank up full with gass drive it for a while keeping track of the mileage sinc ive filled up and when im down to about a quater of a tak i fill it up and see how many gallons it took to fill the tank up and the devide those numbers to get my mpg.
