hitch q-

i just picked up a used hitch for free and was wondering if anyone could help me out in knowing if it will fit my truck. I have a 94 long bed f150 with dual tanks. I tried one of the bumper mount deals but want the full hitch to pull my boat. the hitch I got is a redline brand, and is about 39 inches wide. it seems to be too wide from my just holding it under the rear but can anyone help me?? does anyone recall how wide their hitch is??

thanx

If it's a solid U shape the odds are against you.
They bolt under the frame and if it don't line up there's nothing you can do.
Some after market hitchs are adjustable.
Are there any adjustments for this one?

When you buy a hitch
the first thing they ask is Make, Model, Year.

You could:
Find out what it 'is' made for.
Advertise it as such.
Use the profit towards for your size hitch.

GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! just what i was afraid of. it is a solid shaft, and the only bolts on it are the ones that connect the cross beam to the two ends. yes, the cross beam/ shaft is solid with no adjustments. dang it!

Well, it was made for some vehicle and has value to someone.

It may take some investigation on your part to identify your potential buyers.

it is off of a late 90's dodge. i think that it is just plainly too wide. anyone know what years a used one will fit from as far as a donor vehicle for a used one?? 92-96 i know, what about earlier?? i should probably just drop the 100 bux to buy a new one from jc whitney. am i correct in assuming that i will need to drop the rear tank to install??

thanks to everyone for the replies and help. i picked up a hidden hitch class 5 at a garage sale off a 95 for 10 bux!! i went ahead and ordered the harware mounting set direct from hidden hitch to install. It ended up being like 35 bux but comes with the angle reinforment brackets. I figure for under 50 bux for a class 5 hitch i can't complain! once again, thanx for the help fellas!
