Switching From Carb to EFI

I have a 1989 F150 with a 302 V8. I threw a rod and am replacing the long block. In this process I would like to reuse my present EFI on an older long block. I was told they should match up w/o problem. My friend told me to use a 289 intake gasket because the intake is bigger? Will this work?

Now, I would THINK, but I'm not sure, that you would want to compare the gaskets in question from your truck and the one on teh engine that you pick. But I don't know, so I would say ask someone that knows what they are talking about.

What model year block? If it is later than the mid 70's, use everything you have. Always match any gaskets to the engine you are using, not necessarily the one that is dead. Send some more info, and I can give you more direct confirmation on what is exactly needed.

I am checking on the year of the new block right now, it was presumably an '82. I will get more info as I get into the swap. I will try and provide this as soon as I can. Thanks for the help.
