Timing

I need the correct timing for a 1982 Ford F-150 with a 4.9L Straight Six, and a Carter YFA 1 bbl. It's not anywhere that I can see in my Chiltons...

There were four basic 4.9L engines offered in 1982, with two different timing specs. It would be easier if you could tell us the calibration code. But then if you knew the calibration code, you'd have the timing specs right in front of you.

It's either 10 or 12 degrees advanced. You should set it at 10 and see how it runs. If there are no issues, advance it to 12 degrees, and drive it for a while. If there are still no problems, leave it at 12.

10 degrees. Found it on a label that had been spray-painted over under the hood. Now, anyone got any ideas where to get a "Smog Pump"?
