Starter Problems

Hello, I've got a starter problem I'm pretty sure. When I turn the engine I hear a gut renching sound coming from the passenger side. The truck also will not start running. And I was noticing prior to this, when I would start the truck, I could hear a faint sound of that noise you hear when you turn the engine over and its already running. So my question is, is there a Mercedes Benz of starters? And is there anything else I should replace while I'm having the starter put in? Thanks

Daniel

Be a good idea to replace the cable to the starter while you're down there gettin dirty. Auto zone used to carry a rebuilt bosch years ago, I always thought those were good. Now days any remanufactered part is probably just average. Sometimes you get a good one sometimes a bad one.

As mentioned, rebuilt starters are at best, average (crappy). If you want a top starter, get a new one from Ford or Napa. Make sure it's new. I also agree that this is a great time to replace your battery cables, too.
