hey, new to the forum... just bought my first ford ... well, i correct myself, used to have a 68 stang and shared a 93f150 w/brother....

Heres the scoop. its an 88 xlt 4x4 reg cab 5spd.. only has the 5.0 in it. i wanted the 5.8 but for the price i guess i cant complain. Im going to be taking it on a trip from Seattle to Abq... i was wondering, besides all fluids, what would you guys suggest i do to make sure its kosher for the trip ... ill probably be towing a small uhaul trailer with my stuff...

this is considered my beater, not looking to make it fantastic, just atleast make the trip down there.

Oh yea, the speedo doesnt work, any suggestions on that?

On top of a complete tune up and replacing all the fluids, due to it's age, I would go ahead and flush the cooling system, and replace the belt(s), hoses, t-stat, and water pump. Have the radiator pressure tested as well. Check the brakes, have the wheels balanced, have the battery load tested, and carry some extra fuses with you.
