how do you know if u-joint is goin?
ok Guys, how do i know if the u-joint is bad or going and if i will need a new one soon. I got some weird noises, and wondering if i need a new one. Is there a certain sound i should listen for, or if I visually inspect it, what should i look for. I have an 87 f-150 2wd, inline 6 engine, and it is automatic. Thanks for any responses.

Cheap and not hard to do. I think I paid all of $10-15 each for my joints when I did them. They had the joints with no zerk (grease) fitting with "lifetime synthetic grease" for more. I prefer having a fitting and I can pump my own synthetic grease in thanks... they were less money.
They aren't hard, but plan to spend an hour to hour and a half to do both. Most books say to press them out with a large clamp, I've found that tapping them out usually is quicker and easier, and I've never damaged anything doing it that way.
