Cool '82 F250 4.10's to '94 F150 8.8" Rear-end

Guys, might have a set of 4.10 rear gears out of a '82 F250 rear-end up for grabs from a buddies friend. I am wondering if they will fit into my 8.8" rear-end ??? I personnally, am thinking that it won't work as the owner of the '82 has been told that it is a Dana 70 rear-end and the Dana 70 is larger than my 8.8". I have checked on the internet at some junkyard sites and they are saying that it is a Dana 60. The Dana has 10 bolts holding the inspection cover on just like my 8.8" rear-end. Will it work, yes or no ?????

Has anyone installed 4.10's in their truck and if so what are your results for fuel mileage, etc ??? I know that the 4.10's will launch the truck quicker and well that would help get my 5000 lbs moving quicker down the road and the occassional trip to the strip but I am concerned about fuel mileage as I travel close to 24,000 kms (14,914 miles) / year and want to keep mileage as high as possible.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Oh, if anyone has a rear-end that would swap in for the Dana with 3.55 or 3.73's, please email me. He has a three speed behind it and the truck just screams when on the highway at 100 km/hr (60 m/hr). He wants better fuel mileage as well.

Have Fun & Keep on Truckin'

Izzy,
Sorry to say, but the gears won't work. The Dana design is totally different than the 8.8. If you want to buy some gears, check out www.gefracing.com very cheap ford racing gear sets.

Good luck
