Ground wire???

For the '95 truck in the sig:

I had an issue a while back with some poor workmanship at a local dealership, and I just found something else that they did not put back right.

What is the purpose of the braided ground wire that connects from the passenger side firewall to the intake manifold? They just left it on the wheel well and put a regular bolt in the air pump hose bracket.

Thanks for the input,

It grounds the cab. remember it's mounted on isolators which may not allow a good ground.

Your truck has redundant grounds so in the short term it won't cause a problem. Eventually though when other grounds start to corrode it can cause electrical problems. I usually forget a couple grounds when i replace engines or head gaskets (new vehicles have about 15 different ground wires to the engine) but i try to look everything over and find everything i miss before i give it back to the customer.

Ok just time "shime" in here but why does my '88 B2 have a ground strap from my passenger hood bolt to the fender? It snapped and wonder if there is any real reason I should put a new one on? Doesn't seem like it would matter.

The underhood light may not ground properly thru the hinges, the cable assures a ground.
