Any one have a jacked up ranger?

I was wondering if any one had a ranger that they do alot of off roading in. I was wondering how big I could go on one, tires and lift. I want to build a beater/bogger but since I could be fine with like 35's around here maybe the ranger would be good on the trails since its small. I have a friend with a 91 on 8" and 33's but I want some more input if possible.
Thanks guys pics would be great

If you get a ttb ranger try to find one with a dana 35. If you can't hit the junk yard and pull one out of an explorer. While you're there pull a 8.8 from a 2nd gen explorer (disk brakes) and put that in. I THINK rangers had 28 spline 8.8's where explorers all had 31. I'm not a ranger guy though so i could be wrong. My 1st gen explorer had pretty much the exact same suspension though. The d35 is definitely able to handle 35"s without too much breakage.

Having an offroad only rig is awesome! Another thing you can do with the d35 ttb is put d44 ttb outers on it. That way you can have bigger bearings and brakes. I have never done it though so I can't comment on how hard it is. Also, if you get one with auto hubs...replace them with manual's, the autos are weak.

my brother has a 89 ranger, has some 8" jeep coils plus a 3" body lift. he can articulate plenty well. the D35 front with an ected LS/locker works well. he's turning 35" BFG KM2's

If you want one to wheel get a 97 or older single cab then sas it with a d44 from a bronco or something. Pretty much a bolt on swap and you can run 35s locked with not too much to worry about. Oh and if it has the 7.5 out back grab an 8.8 from an explorer, you can even get them with disks already set up.

Just gonna throw it out there but another option aside from a ranger is a bII. They are great little rigs. They have the same basic drivetrain as the ranger so a d35/8.8 from an explorer would be a good upgrade.

Nice ranger!

One of the reasons I like the explorer so much is all the room you have. Plenty of room for a few friends, a cooler, and tools.

Check out some of my past threads, i cant upload pics on my Gov. computer, butif you look through some of my past threads i have posted pics of my Ranger. I had a 00' XLT SPORT that i had a 4" SL and a 3" BL with 35's. 4.56 gears, and a bunch of other stuff. That thing was FUN on the trails!! I couldnt get that thing stuck if i tried and it was open/open..

Let me know if you find the pics!
