Thumbs down Drivetrain Cunk

I've got a 97 F-250 LD with the 4.6 and 5-speed. Lately when I start out in first gear there is a clunk somewhere in the drivetrain. I can't tell where it is coming from. It feels like the rear axle moves, but when it pops I can see the shifter and transfer case shifter move, so I'm thinking it near the transmission. Sometimes it pops so bad that the tires chirp. I want to think it's the slip yoke, but this just seems so severe. Any ideas what could cause this?

Thanks

Since the shifter and tranny are moving so much, I would suspect bad motor mounts or transmission mount. That doesn't explain the tire chirping though.
